Obituary for Jessie G. Rivera
Graveside services for Jessie Rivera, 75, will be held Monday, May 3, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Childress Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 3-5 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
He passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 in Childress.
Jessie G. Rivera was born December 9, 1945 in Crowell to Bartolo Rivera and Julia Guerrero Rivera. He was a very hard worker. He worked all his life, mainly doing farm work. He enjoyed working on the farm and he was good at it. When he was off, he was always outside working on the yard and making a garden first thing in the spring. Fishing and gardening were his two favotire things to do. He loved a well-kept yard. Jessie was a good man and always provided for his family. He had a stepson he loved and raised as his own. He always looked forward to getting together with the family on holidays in Vernon. He was always ready for all the good food.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Puentes.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Childress; a stepson, Greg Hofstetter of Alma, Michigan; a grandson, Noah Hofstetter, of Alma, Michigan; a granddaughter, Destiny Howard; five sisters Mary Rivera and husband, Manuel Marquez, of Vernon, Judy Gallegos and husband, Raul, of Vernon, Phyllis Fuentes and husband, George, of Dallas, Rosa Sertuche and husband, Frank, of Vernon and Frances Medina.
