Obituary for Jessie Livingston

Jessie Pauline Livingston, age 89, of Quanah passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016. Funeral services will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in First Baptist Church with Gary Zeitler and Wesley Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Childress. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 to noon on Tuesday before the services. Pauline was born on November 13, 1927 in Henrietta, Texas to Marion Henry and Mary Pauline (Roper) Davis. She graduated at 16 from Quanah High School in 1944 after skipping two grades. She met the love of her life, Ruedolph Livingston, at the Moses Five and Dime while working as a cashier. He bought a comb, and was so smitten with her that he came back and bought more combs until he worked up the courage to ask her out. They married on February 2, 1947, and spent 60 years together in love and laughter. He left her side on January 14, 2008 and joined his Heavenly Father. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Gary Livingston, daughter-in-law Joan Livingston, brother Melvin Davis, and sisters Mary Jo Gravley and Martha Barnes. Survivors include one daughter, Twila Butler and husband, Bob of Quanah; four grandchildren, Teresa Doyal and husband, Jim of Childress, Terry Butler and wife, Jen of Vernon, Martin Livingston and fiance, Sarah of Houston, and Adam Livingston of Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex; six great-grandchildren, Maegan Meyer and husband, Stephen of Quanah, Jacob Doyal of Austin, Johnathan Butler of Quanah, James Doyal of Childress, Casey Butler of Hoschton, GA, and Jessilyn Doyal of Childress; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaylea Roberts and Beau Meyer of Quanah; two brothers, Royce Davis and wife, Francis of San Antonio, and Don Davis and wife, Betty of Bridgeport, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Alzhemier’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633 or to the charity of your choice.
