Obituary for Jerry Morgan

Jerry W. Morgan, age 86, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017. Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. to 1:45 P.M. on Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Church of Christ in Turkey, Texas. Graveside services will be at 2:30 P.M. on Friday, December 8, 2017 in the Bell Cemetery with Ricky Fuston officiating with burial to follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Jerry was born on January 7, 1931 in Clarendon to Taylor and Bernice (Hood) Morgan. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Ginger Bell in 1959 and they shared 58 years together in love and laughter. At a young age in Clarendon, Jerry started working for local ranchers, Shoe bar, Shoe nail, Ro McMurtry, and Lewis ranches. In the early sixties, Jerry and Ginger started farming and ranching and raising a family of their own in Turkey. Jerry was a member of the Cattleman’s and Quarter Horse associations. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #824 Matador and served on the Valley School Board for a time. Although Jerry loved to ranch, his first love was his family. His greatest joy was spoiling grandchildren, and was the WORLDS GREATEST GRANDAD. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son John Morgan, and two brothers Gene Morgan and Don Morgan. Survivors include his wife, Ginger Bell Morgan of Turkey; one son, Rex Morgan and wife, Charla of Houston; two grandchildren, Cylor Morgan and wife, Samantha of Ft. Worth, and Sidney Morgan of Amarillo; two nephews, Don Wesley and Jackie Morgan of Oklahoma; and numerous extended family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of Christ of Turkey.
