Jeff Wilson, 51, of Amarillo, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2021, in Benbrook, Texas. Memorial services will be Saturday, August 7 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Childress, with Pastor Lou Ellerbrook officiating.
Jeff was born on April 6, 1970, in Quanah to Debbie Wilson. He was the oldest of three siblings, Jimmie Simmons and Mellissa Simmons. Jeff grew up in Quanah, where he was a 1989 graduate, before moving to Childress to raise his family. His children were his proudest accomplishment, whom he followed all over the state watching in sports and other activities. Jeff became Poppa for the first time in February of 2018, to Jasper and again in 2021 to Maddux Grace. Jeff loved the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys and could be found watching them in his recliner every Saturday and Sunday. He was a friend to many and never met a stranger, willing to hold a conversation with anyone he came across. Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Debbie, grandparents, George and Melinda Wood, cousin, Joe Risinger, and granddaughter, Jazzlee Wilson. He is survived by his two children, Chase Wilson of Childress, and Madie Sweatt and husband, Luke, of Shamrock, brother, Jimmie Simmons of Stephenville, and sister Mellissa Simmons of Quanah, aunt, Sue Newsom of Holiday and cousin, Chris Tyson of Quanah, two grandchildren, Jasper Wilson of Childress, and Maddux Sweatt of Shamrock.
