Obituary for Janie Deltoro

Janie Deltoro, age 85, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 18, 2016 at 11 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 6 PM on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Janie was born on May 17, 1931 in Hern, Texas to Antonio and Janie (Morales) Rodriguez. She led a very active lifestyle, and shopping for dresses, shoes, going to garage sales and buying things for her grandchildren brought her happiness. A very happy person, Janie was full of life and also loved dancing. A loving and caring person, her family was her pride and joy. She loved all her children and grandchildren, and considered many others as her own. She was affectionately known to many as “Little Granny”, and was loved by all who knew her. Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Sonny Deltoro; daughter Mary Prado; son Jesse Benestes; and grandsons Jimmy Martinez, Jerry Martinez and Rudy Martinez. Janie is survived by: daughters Janie Martinez and husband, Jimmy of Houston, Lucy Vargas and husband Ramiro Rodriguez of Childress, Gloria Rosales and husband, Antonio Zepeda of Childress, Virginia Lopez and husband, Matt of Memphis, Christina Merla of Childress, Estella Garcia and husband, Jose Gomez of Childress; son Marcelino Deltoro of Childress; 17 grandchildren Victoria, Amanda and Cynthia Prado of Daytona Beach, Florida, Virginia Martinez, Kenneth Martinez, Lawrence Martinez, Bobby Martinez all of Rosenberg, Texas, Jessica and Eric Guidry of Childress, Linda Zepeda and Juan Lepe of Childress, Jesse Rosales of Lantana, Florida, Rudy Rodriguez of Alaska, Sophia and Albert Narvaez of Amarillo, Maria Mena and Lucio Rosiles of Childress, Yesenia Merla of Childress, Veronica Merla and Herman Jackson III of Childress, Danny Garcia Jr. and Lobeta of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Stephanie Garcia and Robert Magana of West Palm Beach, Florida; 53 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
