Obituary for Janice E. Portwood

Graveside services for Janice Evonne Langham Portwood, 66, will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Childress Cemetery with Trey Morgan officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Janice went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 26, 2020 in Lubbock.
She was born April 8, 1954 to Floyd Lee Langham and Wanda Meadows Langham. She was married to the love of her life, Robert Portwood, on July 28, 1972. They were married 48 years.
Janice was a true servant to others as evidenced by her 30 plus years as a nurse. She had a tremendous heart and would help anyone who needed it. Her life was a true example of her servant’s heart. Ephesians 4:32, “And be kind and compassionate to one another. Just as God forgave you in Christ.”
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Wanda Langham, in-laws L.D. and Lavern Portwood and two grandsons Jacob MaGouirk and Joshuah Ackerman.
Survivors include her loving husband Robert Portwood; sisters-in-law Chris Ray and husband, Denzil and Carolyn Willis; brother-in-law Ronnie Portwood and wife, Angie; brothers James Langham and wife, Kay, and Lloyd Langham and wife, Cyrstal; three daughters Tonya Kroll and Cody White, Tammy Imhof and husband, Cody; and Kim Portwood and Christopher Ross; grandchildren and great grandchildren Colton, Chelsea, Audrey and K.J. Kroll; Ashleigh, K.C., Brealee and Kacen Conway; JoHannah Kroll; Corbin White; Cade, Lindsey, Aubrey and Riley Ackerman; Jancen Ackerman; Brittany Miles; Kaleigh Ackerman; Madison, Racheal and Eryka Imhof; Brock and Luke MaGouirk; J’Leigh and Kaleigh Ross and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice was kind, loving, compassionate and caring. She will be greatly missed by her co-workers, friends, patients and family. She taught her girls to be strong, hard working, determined and independent. For that, we will always be grateful.
The family suggests memorials be made to Childress Meals on Wheels and CASA.
