Obituary for Jane A. "Memaw" Taylor
Graveside services for Jane A. “Memaw” Taylor, 93, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Fairview Cemetery Chapel in Memphis with Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
She passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Memphis.
Jane Alice Morrison was born April 26, 1928 in Hall County to Elton Summers Morrison and Anna Fay Montgomery Morrison. She was a 1945 graduate of Memphis High School and married Y.Z. Taylor July 8, 1950 in Memphis.
She was a telephone operator for GTE in her working years. She was also a scout leader for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She loved to rock and all five siblings like to rock in the same rocking chair together. The family was very hard on rockers. She was a tomboy and loved to be with her brothers. She always came in muddy and got lots of spankings. She loved the Fourth of July picnics the family had to celebrate her grandfather Morrison’s birthday. She also loved to work in her yard and made the best stacked enchiladas as well as chocolate and lemon pies. She enjoyed playing games. She was baptized at the age of 16 and never waivered in her faith. She needed it as she lived through the Great Depression which made her a strong woman. She also loved going to the farm and feeding cows with Y.Z. He preceded her in death in 1971.
Along with her husband, those preceding her in death include her parents, a sister, Doris Gibson, a brother, Charles Morrison, a great grandson, Seth Greer; a niece, Karen Irwin and nephews Stanley Morrison and Jay Mark Morrison.
Survivors include her daughter, Anita Warzecha and husband, Larry; her son, Kerry Taylor and wife, Jackie; grandchildren Cory Taylor, Courtney Halsell and husband, Josh, Cody Taylor and wife, Becky, Alason Moorhead and husband, Jed, Travis Warzecha and wife, Kaitlynn; great grandchildren Skyler Greer and wife, Carley, Londan Taylor, Hadleigh Halsell, Taylor Halsell, Laila Taylor, Avery Moorhead, Roan Taylor, Dally Rae Taylor, Mack Moorhead and Taliah Warzecha; great great grandson McCoy Greer; siblings Jimmy Morrison and Barbara and Marge Zinck and husband, J.D.; sisters-in-law, Mirtie Morrison and Janney Taylor and a niece, Lynn Dunavin and husband, Jerry.
Memorials may be made to Westview Boys Home or the Memphis Cemetery Association.
