Obituary for Jane Reitmeier (Peters)

Memorial Service for Jane Lou Reitmeier, 88, of Childress, will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the First Baptist Church with Kerry Wood officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Jane “Sug” Peters was born on November 27, 1935 to Herman and Nora Peters in Kansas City, Mo. She passed from this life on March 18, 2024. She was the youngest of three daughters. She loved music. She liked to paint, especially butterflies, cats, and cardinals. She enjoyed traveling and got to experience much of the United States when employed with a tour company in Missouri. She married Kenneth Reitmeier in 1998 and they served together at Unity Church in Springfield, Mo. She enjoyed helping others and was able to do that through her employment at Unity prayer ministry in Lees Summit as well as Springfield Tourism Department and Silver Dollar City. She and Kenneth became involved with the Brett family in Branson and worked for them at their show for a number of years. In 2018, she moved to Childress and became involved with the Senior Citizens here. She enjoyed the time spent with them and the friendships that developed.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Mary Francis Vaught and Donna Crenshaw, and her husband Kenneth. Survivors include; Randy Rister and wife Viva of Childress, Lonnie Rister and wife Christi of Lubbock, Stepchildren; Beth and Kevin Corbin, Danny and Kimberly Reitmeier, and Chris Reitmeier all of Franklin, North Carolina, 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, and good friend and neighbor Margaret Moore.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Senior Citizens of Childress.
