Obituary for James Lynn Laningham
Graveside services for James Lynn Laningham, 85, were held at Childress Cemetery February 1, 2022 under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
He passed away January 31, 2022 in Amarillo.
He was born and raised in Childress, Texas and graduated from Childress High School in 1955. He worked for The Childress Index for six months before moving on to the Fort Worth Railroad as a painter. He later received a government certification from Amarillo College as a refrigeration tech. He served in the Army as an Honest John Rocket specialist at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
He married Patsy Sue Shields in May of 1957 in Childress. They had one daughter, Kay Lynn and her husband, Scott Huddleston. He had a short stint with Mercury Records in 1957 and had one of the leading R&B Bands in Amarillo.
