Obituary for Jack Norman

Jack Andrew Norman passed away on December 20, 2019 in Childress, TX. He was born January 6, 1935 to Cecil and Chloe Hininger Norman in Woodward, Oklahoma. He attended school in Fargo, Oklahoma and graduated in 1953. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and Panhandle State university in Goodwill. He joined the Navy December 31, 1955 and served four years. Services for Jack will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Childress, TX with Richard Norman officiating, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
 
After discharge from the Navy, Jack worked briefly for Burlington Northern Railroad in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was later employed with the Federal Aviation Administration Flight Service and first worked in McComb, Mississippi. He transferred to Childress Flight Service to be closer to home in 1961. He retired in 1987.
 
He met and married Peggy Mahan and after only six weeks of courtship were married July 21, 1961. In 1992 Jack and Peggy moved to the Norman family homestead near Fargo, Oklahoma. They returned to Childress in 2016.
 
Jack enjoyed working with wood and antique furniture restoration. He and Peggy were avid square dancers from 1983 to 2016 and were active in Circle C Squares in Childress and Red Carpet Squares in Gage, Oklahoma. He was a registered Girl Scout from 1969 to 1992.
 
Jack is survived by his wife Peggy, daughters Joyce Milton and husband Bruce, and Gayle Cannon. Three granddaughters, Holly Moya, Mandy Husband, and Alexis Cannon. Six great grandchildren, Kamryn Moya, Kollin Moya, Kynlee Moya, Kaden Husband, Kar’Leigh Husband and Karter Husband.
Memorials may be made to CRMC Hospice or the Kirkland Cemetery.
