Obituary for Jack Longley

Jack Daniel Longley of Childress Texas was 70 years old when he was called Home to be with our Lord on January 20, 2017. Funeral services will be at 10:00am on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with Lou Ellerbrook officiating and assisted by Johnny Robertson. Visitation will from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Jack was born November 5, 1946, in Giddings Texas to William Virgil Longley and Mary Alice Seale Longley. In 1965, he graduated from Reagan High School in Houston Texas. In 1966, he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps where he served in Vietnam until he returned to Houston in 1968. He raised his family in the greater Houston area until he moved to Childress Texas in 2001 to live out his dream as a rancher.  He was a man of strong character who positively impacted all who were in his circle of influence.  He loved to share the message of Christ with others.  He exemplified Christ’s love through his daily walk for everyone to see.  Jack's pride was his family.  He taught them and loved them well.  Though our hearts are broken because we are separated from him we take comfort and rejoice with confidence that he is with our Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents.
