J.E. “G” Benham, Jr., age 73 of Childress, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 10 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Lou Ellerbrook, officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. J.E. was born on June 13, 1943 in Childress to Jess Edward Benham, Sr. and Daisy (Copeland) Benham. An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed watching them play and had tickets to see them. In earlier years, he enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, riding bicycles, walking and swimming. He was active in the Elks Lodge. His grandchildren brought him great joy and pride, and he loved watching cartoons and spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a son David Davenport. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, of Childress; daughter Shelly Allen and husband, Sam of Tyler, TX; son Britain Brewer of Graham, TX; son Jess Benham of Wichita Falls, TX; daughter Marijon Waldron and husband, Joe of Lefors, TX; six grandchildren Quade Brewer and wife, Krysten, Brooklin Golden, Boston Brewer, Gage Benham, Cole Allen and Ivy Waldron. Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels or to Cal Farley’s Boy’s Ranch in Amarillo.
