Funeral services for Irene Lugo, 64, will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Tim Medley officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
Irene passed away peacefully in her home in Childress December 25, 2022. What a glorious Christmas it was for her to celebrate with Jesus!
Irene Sabina Murguia was born January 1, 1958 to Marcelino and Modesta Murguia in Karnes City, Texas. She married the love of her life, Mike Lugo, on February 16, 1973 in Paducah. They shared 49 years of love together. She was a lifetime Christian and loved Jesus with her entire heart. She worked as a housekeeper for many years and took care of her family. She had a heart of gold and everyone felt loved around her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Jose Chairez-Lugo.
Survivors include husband, Mike Lugo; daughter, Norma Lugo, of Borger; daughter, Melissa Drew and husband, Troy, of Childress; son, Antonio Lugo and wife, MeLisa, of Childress; daughter, Irene Lugo, of Childress; sister, San Juana Martinez and husband, Julian, of Amarillo; brother, Bonifacio Murguia and wife, Adelita, of Hamlin; sister, Gloria Martinez, of Childress; brother, Joe Murguia Sr. and wife, Dana, of Aspermont; brother, Marcelino Murguia Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Paducah; brother Francisco Murguia, of Canyon; brother, Refugio Murguia, of Huntsville along with 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
