Idolina was born on February 15, 1948 in LaGrulla, Texas to Macario and Alicia (Solis) Zarate. She married the love of her life, Guadalupe Alonzo Alafa Sr., and she was a loving and devoted wife to him for 54 years and shared love, laughter and raised their family together. She was a strong woman of faith, was a faithful member of Saint Elizabeth Catholic Church in Paducah, and had a big kind and caring heart. With a servant’s heart, she served her church and loved helping people, doing anything she could to help someone even if she didn’t know them. She was known to love to watch the 700 Club and HGTV, and often donated to charities such as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Idolina also loved to work on word search puzzles and hanging out with her friends. Due to her competitive spirit, she loved playing BINGO, but she didn’t like to lose and you had better not cheat or she would call you out on it.
Above all else, Idolina loved people, especially children. She was a patient and loving grandmother and great-grandmother, and she loved babysitting children, loving on them and guiding them with love and faith.
Idolina was preceded in death by her father Macario Zarate, her mother Alicia Solis Zarate, and a sister Aida Ybarra.
