Obituary for Harold Simmons
Graveside services for Harold Simmons, 103, will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Childress Cemetery with Dr. Mike Henderson officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
He passed away November 9, 2023 in Childress.
He was born November 20, 1919 in Childress to Eugene Simmons and Maude Price Simmons.
Harold loved music and learned to play the fiddle after 40 years of age after playing guitar since he was a child. He farmed his entire life and had a love of agriculture. He loved to watch his crops grow and his livestock. He also enjoyed woodworking. He enjoyed watching rodeos. His grandkids held a special place in his heart and he loved his wife, Billy, with all his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include wife, Billy Simmons; children, Lynn Simmons and wife Lorna and Donna Black and husband Kenny; grandchildren, Bryan Black, Donita Johnston, Zac Womack and wife Amanda, Travis Womack, Shawn Simmons and wife Courtney, Shayla Yaklin and husband Josh; great grandchildren, Kylie Hall and husband Michael, Kynna Phillips, Jayton Moore, Cody Womack, Emma Price, Quinn Price, Elijah Womack, Lydia Womack, Nora Womack; great-great grandchildren Shaylee Hall, Daegan Hall, Dawson Hall, and a baby girl due Feb 2024; sisters Lita Seal, Jackie Thompson, Glenda Stowe and Leona Sue Luman and many, many extended family members
