Obituary for Harold Keys

Harold Neal Keys, age 82, died Thursday, July 27, 2017, in Round Rock, Texas. Funeral services will held at 10 AM on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at First Baptist Church with Kerry Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home. Neal was born on July 31, 1934 in Tell, Texas to Earl M. & Maude (Furr) Keys. He grew up in the Tell community until he entered the army and was stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He then went to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina where he met his wife Laura, and eventually married in 1956 and started their family. They were married for 51 years before her death in 2007. Neal brought his family back to Childress in 1963, raising three children and owning several businesses in the community. His family was his biggest joy, but he also found time to buy, restore and sell many cars. Neal has resided in Austin, Texas since 2008. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura; brothers, Earl Keys, Jr., Gerald Keys, Gene Keys and Larry Keys; and sisters, Jodi Haas, Shirley Keys and Cleta Peterson. He is survived by one son, Bobby Keys and wife Gwen of Bridgeport, Texas, 2 daughters Connie Jones and husband Dan, of Austin, Texas, and Kelly Keys of Childress; 3 brothers J.C. Keys and wife, Dollie, and Jerry Keys and wife, Linda; brother-in-law, Jim Gann and wife, Betty; 2 sister-in-laws, Sharlynn Keys and Gladys Keys; Grandchildren, Felicia Keys, Quana Allison and significant other, Brandon Freeze, Tara Sims and husband, Jason, Thad Keys and wife, Jenny, Tori Simons and husband, Zac, and Megan Langhoff and husband, Drew; Great-grandchildren, Raegan Allison, Tristan Allison, Olivia Reed, Jonah Reed, Addison Simons, Ethan Simons, Presleigh Sims, Judah Keys and Stetson Langhoff, as well as many other special family members and friends. Special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice of Austin for their care, concern and all they did for Neal.
