Obituary for Floyd Gilliland

Funeral services for Floyd Gilliland, 89, will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Tim Medley and Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Monday, August 7, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
He passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023 in Childress.
Floyd was born January 22, 1934 in Seymour to Grady and Roxie Gilliland.
He loved fishing days at the lake, golfing, playing the guitar, and watching all sports. Most of all, he enjoyed every minute spent with his grandchildren, they meant the world to him.
He married the love of his life, Linda Gilliland, with whom he would have celebrated 39 years in October. Through their marriage, he gained three wonderful children that he loved so much. Years later he gained 10 grandchildren and later, five great grandchildren.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Childress.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Gilliland; his son, Kyle Vannoy and wife, Melissa and their sons Andy, Alex and Aric; his daughter, Melissa Williams and husband, Kevin, and their children Konner and Madison; his daughter, Melanie Clark and husband, Kelly, and their children Konner Clark, Lindsey Ackerman and husband, Cade, and their children Aubrey, Riley and baby Ackerman; Walker Clark and wife, Masey and their son James Walker Clark; Laurin Bocanegra and husband, Stratton and their daughter Vada Bocanegra and Luke Freeze as well as nephews Kaleb Mars and Terry Williams and nieces Velma Saenger, Virginia Ann Morris, Betty Sue Mars and Shirley Kay Mars.
