George C. Blythe, age 66, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Parkview Baptist Church with Chase Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at their residence. George was born on February 18, 1951 in Quanah to Thomas Lewis and Beulah (Gasway) Blythe. He and Sylvia Ramos were married on October 15, 1971 in Dalhart. A hardworking man, George was always willing to do whatever it took to provide for his family, sacrificing and working through his pain even during his illness. An honest man with integrity, he would help anyone who needed it, and he taught his family that doing the right thing was more important than taking the easy route. A strong, good old country boy, he loved to hunt, fish, and had an appreciation for old cars. Above all else, George loved his family and his grandchildren and they were his pride and joy. He spent as much time with them as he possibly could, and was very involved in their lives. George was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, hannah. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; one son, George Blythe, III; one daughter, Karen Blythe; one sister, Lois Edwards; one brother, James Dickerson; seven grandchildren, Meranda, Jenna, Clinton, Cameron, Patrick, Justin and Champion; one great-grandchild, Zayn; father and mother-in-law, Manuel and Luisa Ramos; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and numerous extended family and friends.
