Genta Marie Morren, age 77, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 in Dallas. Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Childress Church of Christ with Mr. Trey Morgan officiating, assisted by Dr. Mike Henderson. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Genta Marie Vaughn was born on August 5, 1935 in Erick, Oklahoma to Sim and Audie Vaughn. She married Perry Lee Morren on January 29, 1956 in Childress, Texas. Genta worked for 38 years for Southwestern Bell and retired in 1992. She was very active in community work including the Childress Public Library, Meals on Wheels, The American Red Cross, The American Cancer Society, and the US Census. In 1997 she was awarded the Community Service Award by the Childress Chamber of Commerce and she was the 2002 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award for volunteerism by the Childress Index. She was also an active member of the Childress Church of Christ. She is preceeded in death by her parents. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Westview Boys Home in Hollis, Oklahoma.
