Obituary for Gene Jouett
Gene Jouett, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Childress Church of Christ with Dr. Weldon Green, officiating, and Mr. Edwin Sides, assisting. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, February 13, 2109 at Johnson Funeral Home.
Gene was born on August 2, 1930 in Hall County, Texas to Joe Nelson and Clessie Estelle (Moore) Jouett. He married Joye Lynn Davis, and they were married 68 loving years.
Gene was active, with in his work and in his community. He was a longtime farmer in Hall and Childress counties, and was a member of the Childress Church of Christ. He also was a civic leader, having served on the Estelline School Board, the Board of Directors at the Estelline/Hulver Gin, and the Hall County Hospital Board.
He was preceded in death by grandson Danny Jouett II, his parents, sisters Juanita Luster, Louise Mills and Sib Saunders, and brother Wallace Jouett.
Survivors included his wife, Joye Lynn Jouett of Childress; two sons, Joe Jouett and wife, Cathy of Childress, and Danny Jouett and wife, Linda of Amarillo; four daughters, Debbie Pierce and husband Rickey, Marsha Meacham and husband Gary, Dinah DeArmond and husband Mark, and Leah Helm and husband John, all of Childress; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
