Obituary for Gary Thompson
Funeral services for Gary Thompson, 77, will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Terry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home.
He passed away September 25, 2022 in Childress.
Gary Ray Thompson was born December 1, 1944 in Floydada to Lester Altomont Thompson and Myrtle Mae Branch Thompson. He married Carolyn Ruth Sessums on June 5, 1965 in Floydada. He came to Childress in 1976 where he spent 30 years as a lineman for Gate City Electric where he retired. He also spent 20 years racing greyhounds. He enjoyed time in his workshop at home as well as the dog farm. He especially enjoyed time with family and friends. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Childress.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, of Childress; a son Bud Thompson and wife, Kandi, of Childress; a son Mac Thompson of Childress; granddaughters Taitlyn Thompson, Ashley Thompson Smith and Daphni Thompson and a grandson Brandon Thompson and a sister Quetha Mozell Meyers of Floydada.
