Obituary for Juanell Woodard
Funeral services for Juanell Woodard, 85, will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Carey Baptist Church with Billy Babcock officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
She passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 in Childress.
She was born May 18, 1938 in Seminole, Texas to Emmett and Claudia Stanley Allison.
Juanell loved to travel, camp and fish. She loved being around water – pools, rivers, lakes and the ocean. She loved God’s beautiful world. She loved playing with her nieces, nephews and her own children. Most of all, she loved playing and reading with her greats. She loved gardening until the deer ate it. She loved to watch birds and loved photography. She also loved family reunions and was able to attend one this June.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Claudine Hurley; her husband, Earl Woodard; a son, Allen Woodard; and a grandson, Bryan Babcock.
Survivors include her daughter, Nelta Babcock and spouse, Billy, of Lubbock; grandson, Aaron Babcock and spouse, Mariah; of Carlsbad, N.M.; granddaughter, Katie Mitchell and spouse, Jered of Lubbock; granddaughter, Benae Kuhn and spouse, Brandon, of Miami, Fla.; granddaughter, Maci Woodard and spouse, Josh Weiss, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; great grandchildren Mary Anne Mitchell of Lubbock, Hamilton Mitchell of Lubbock, Avey Mitchell of Lubbock, Lizzy Mitchell of Lubbock, Bransyn Babcock of Carlsbad, N.M., Jered Mitchell, Jr. of Lubbock, Billie Mitchell of Lubbock, Murphy Mitchell of Lubbock, Everly Babcock of Carlsbad, N.M., Atticus Babcock of Carlsbad, N.M., Joe Silvestri of West Palm Beach, Fla., and great great grandson Jaxon Keith of Lubbock along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made by way of sponsoring a member of the Carey Baptist Church youth group to youth camp.
