Eloisa (Martinez) Reyna, age 87 of Childress, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 1 PM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 7 PM on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Eloisa was born on February 8, 1929 in San Benito, Texas to Guadalupe and Catarina (Perez) Martinez. Eloisa Martinez was born to Guadalupe and Catarina Martinez on February 8, 1929 in San Benito, TX. She married Alberto Reyna on December 2, 1947. Eloisa and Alberto moved to Turkey, TX from San Benito, TX in 1976. To this union, 12 children, 27 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren were born. She and her husband were longtime members of Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Turkey, TX. She was a member of the Guadalupana's at church. Being a wife of a farmer/laborer, Eloisa spent long hours working by her husband to provide for their family. She enjoyed spending her time doing cross-stitching, seek and find puzzles, sewing and most of all cooking. She was well known for her tasty tamales, menudo and home cooked meals. Even though she loved to cook, her very favorite place to eat was Long John Silver's. She also cherished spending time with family and traveling, helping care for her grandchildren and volunteering at church. Eloisa and Alberto loved to spend quality time together dancing and visiting with their compadres. As much as she will be missed on this earth, we know that she is rejoicing and dancing in Heaven with her husband. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alberto Reyna; one son Alberto Reyna, Jr.; grandson Arturo “Jr” Reyna; and brother Marcelo Martinez. Survivors include: her children- daughter Maria E. Reyna of San Antonio, son Hector Reyna of Childress, daughter Erlinda Morales and husband, Rudy of Los Lunas, NM, son Eloy Reyna and wife, Erma of Silverton, TX, daughter Corina Reyna of Childress, son Armando Reyna and wife, Ruby of Las Cruces, NM, son Arturo Reyna and wife, Mary of Honey Grove, TX, son Udell Reyna and wife, San Juanita of Elk City, OK, daughter Nina Gonzales of Albuquerque, NM, son Lupe Reyna of Albuquerque, NM, and daughter Edna Guajardo and husband, Chris of San Antonio; eleven siblings – Margarita Galvan, Rojerio Martinez, Mary Ysaquirre, Bethel Beto Martinez, Juan Martinez, Elida Valdez, Grace Munoz, Oralia Trevino, Sylvia Dominguez, Narciso Martinez, and Felica Martinez; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
