Edna Mae was born on November 15, 1918 in Sayre, OK to Clyde Edward and Iva Pearl (Baker) Seal. She married Walter Ivy Lambert in January, 1938. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Edna Mae loved and nurtured her family without complaint. Edna Mae was a member of the First Baptist Church for 70 years, and was active in Adult Fellowship class. She was active in farming with her husband and family for 70+ years. She could be hoeing in 95 degree weather and state “I am doing exactly what I want to do.” She milked cows, raised chickens, and had a great garden. She has been known to be up before the sun was up gathering black-eyed peas to find a badger prowling around in the garden. She asked him what he was doing up before the sun, and then killed him with a 5-gallon bucket. An article in several farm magazines quoted: Hail and high winds make this a tough place to farm. She actually got started in the cotton business the moment she grabbed the reins of her daddy’s wagon team and hauled her first load to the gin. These days you’ll find her up at dawn—hoe in hand—chopping cotton. Good exercise, she says, and a good way to spot worms and weevils. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Ivy Lambert, in 1986; her siblings, Delbert Seal, Eloise (Johnnie) Inman, and Carroll Seal; and a granddaughter, Ginger Kay Lambert. Survivors include three children: Walter Ivy Lambert, Jr. and wife, Susie; Marilyn Elizabeth Benham and husband, JE; and Ken Paul Lambert and wife, JoLinda; 10 Grandchildren: Walter Ivy Lambert, III (Trey) and wife, Renee; Leslie Arnold Lambert and wife, Tracy; Britain Del Alan Brewer and wife, Jammie; Jess Ivy Benham; Marijon Elizabeth (Benham) Waldron and husband, Joe; Shelly Benham Allen and husband, Sam; Landon Paul Lambert; Brady Lee Lambert and wife, Kaitlin; Phil Neskoirk; and Danny Neskoirk and wife, Donya; 20 great grandchildren And many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CRMC Hospice at PO Box 1030, Childress, TX 79201, to Cottage Village at 204 5th St NE, Childress, TX 79201, or to First Baptist Church at 300 Ave C NW, Childress, TX 79201.
