Obituary for Eddie Braidfoot

Eddie Frank Braidfoot, age 77, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Chad King, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Memphis at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Eddie was born on September 4, 1937 in Memphis, TX to Leonard Dow and Amie Lee (Bumpus) Braidfoot. He graduated from Estelline High School in 1955 and then attended West Texas State University in Canyon. He and Dortha Proffitt were married on March 30, 1957 in the chapel at West Texas State University. Together they raised 2 sons in Memphis and Newlin, where he spent most of his life farming. Eddie served as a reserve deputy for Hall County for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Childress where he served as deacon and was a member of the Adult Four Sunday School Class. Most of all, Eddie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. He loved working on the farm and teaching them all he knew about farming, and attended all of their activities as they were growing up. Eddie was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Sammy L. Braidfoot. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 300 Ave C NW, Childress, TX 79201. Survivors include his wife, Dortha, of Newlin; one son, Eddie Wayne and wife, Cindy, of Childress; two grandsons, John Wayne Braidfoot of Turpin, OK, and Matthew Braidfoot of Lubbock, TX; one brother, Larry Braidfoot and wife, Frederica, of Irving, TX; daughter-in-law, Veronica Braidfoot of San Antonio; and numerous extended family and friends.
