Obituary for Doyal Henderson

Doyal Stanford Henderson, age 70, peacefully passed on Friday, November 14, 2014 surrounded by family in Copperas Cove, Texas after a long battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Wilson officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 5-7 pm. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend. Mr. Henderson was born in Quanah, TX to Doyal D. “Speck” Henderson and Edwina Willie (Cope) Henderson. Doyal Stanford is the oldest of four children: Jack Donald Henderson, John Cecil Henderson, and Lena “Marti” Henderson. The family moved away from Childress in 1945. Doyal graduated from Irvin High School (El Paso, TX) in 1963 and immediately enlisted in the United States Marines Corps. As an aviation mechanic, he completed his first tour in Japan and then he served his second tour in Vietnam. After returning to the United States, he was assigned to the Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, in Santa Ana, California. Doyal married Pamela Martin on July 22, 1966. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1967 as a Lance Corporal. Doyal later moved back to El Paso, TX where it only took him three years to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Upon graduation in 1971, with great pride he worked alongside his father at Plains Mobile Homes as the General Manager. Doyal and Pamela had one daughter, current Childress, TX resident, Krista Leigh wife of Brad Baldwin. In 1977, Doyal and Pamela divorced. In 1978, he ran for Mayor of El Paso, TX and was later appointed to the Zoning Board. In 1982, Doyal married Darleen Bush and they had two children, Ashley Marie wife of Kyle Rossi and Doyal Trey Henderson. The couple divorced in 1992 and Mr. Henderson never remarried. He opened Henderson Tire Shop in Chaparral, NM in 1998 and operated his business until his health declined in November of 2013. Doyal Stanford Henderson was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Seth Matsueda, Aubreyanna Baldwin, Kyra Matsueda, Elle Baldwin, Kylie Baldwin, Landon Rossi and Aubree Rossi. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edwina (Willie) Cope Henderson and his brother, Jack Donald Henderson.
