Obituary for Dovie Henderson
Dovie Corine Henderson, 93, formerly of Childress, died Wednesday, March 18, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas.
Private gaveside services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2020 in Childress Cemetery with Kerry Wood officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Corine was born December 12, 1926 to O.D. and Mattie Phillips. She married B.P. (Dude) Henderson on August 9, 1947. They lived in Community Center most of their lives. She was an active member of Kirkland Baptist Church where she served in every needed capacity but will always be remembered for being a remarkable pianist. She later became a member of First Baptist Church in Childress and then Coulter Road Baptist Church in Amarillo. She took great pride in playing for the Joy Singers of Coulter Road. Corine was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dude; her parents; 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors include her daughters: Carolyn Lane and husband (Jerry) of Paris, Texas; Bobbi Stalls and husband (Randy) of McLean, Texas; and Lisa Shoemaker and husband (Mark) of Amarillo, Texas. Grandchildren: Courtney Lane and husband (Jon Rowlands), Clint Lane and wife (Kristy), Shandon Stalls and wife (Larenda), Shaley Fuller and husband (Jared), Heath, Harris, and Holden Shoemaker. Great-grandchildren: Mattie, Anna, and Noah Rowlands, Jacob, Joe and Alexa Lane, Slayde Stalls, and Kesslye and Kallym Fuller.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 300 Avenue C NW, Childress, TX, 79201 or the Alzheimer’s Association at www.act.alz.org.
