She passed away April 29, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was born in Quanah Texas on February 13, 1945, to Curtis and Hattie Truesdale, and was baptized at First John Baptist Church in Childress, Texas. Doris enjoyed school and sang in the octet with her high school choir. Doris was also a member of the student council. Among her many hobbies, Doris enjoyed playing the piano and sewing. After graduating high school, Doris attended school in Prairie View Texas, and worked as a phone operator to help pay for her education.
Doris decided to leave Texas and moved to Barstow, California with her older brother Ocie. In Barstow, Doris met and married Benny Hamptlon, a union that lasted 49 years, until his death in 2017. Doris
attended Barstow Community College where she made the Dean’s list and received her Associate of Arts degree. Doris soon received her license to practice nursing as an LVN and worked at Barstow Community Hospital. Doris loved worshipping the Lord, often teaching Sunday School at the Church of Christ in Barstow. Doris remained in Barstow throughout her retirement years, often returning to Texas to be with her friends and family.
Those making the transition prior to Doris were her parents, Curtis, and Hattie Truesdale; husband Benny Hamptlon Sr.; brothers Edmond Lang Jr. (survived by wife, Iris June Lang), J.W. Odhams, and Ocie L. Odhams, Sr.; sister Francis Trusalem Day; and youngest daughter Sharon Y. Hamptlon (survived by son, Curtis Bullorck).
Doris leaves behind her oldest daughter, Connie Truesdale, and Connie’s three children Niles Denton, Jordan Denton, and Constance Denton; from her marriage with Ben Hamptlon, Sr., a son Ben Hamplton Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and loved ones.
