Obituary for Donald Rickman

Donald Glenn Rickman was born November 26, 1936 to O.J. and Maggie Rickman in Kirkland, TX. Services will be held at Calvary Baptist at 2pm on Monday, November 3, 2017 with Jason Stidham officiating. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm Sunday, November 5, 2017. Burial will immediately follow in Kirkland Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. He attended all school in Kirkland, TX graduating in 1955. He then worked on the railroad. He was drafted into the Army in November of 1959. He was discharged honorably on the 8th of December 1961. After the service he worked several jobs; Universal Carloading and distributing, he was a traveling auditor, Krestco Window Co., he farmed and lived in Turkey Texas, then he drove trucks cross country until retiring to take care of his ailing mother, Maggie. After Maggie passed, he remained in Childress and moved out to Baylor Lake where he resided until his death. Uncle Don, as he was fondly called by all his family, was a very loving and compassionate man. He never missed a birthday, holiday, or any family get together. He was always helping when anyone needed him. He had wonderful friends whom he loved as well life, long friends. He is survived by 3 sisters and 1 son; Eura Belle Rickman of Marble Falls, TX; Odessa Nance of Childress, TX; and Janell (Tooter) and husband Larry Gribble of Woodward, OK.; Micah Charles Rickman and wife Tamra of Colorado. Nieces Darlene Lacy and husband Johnny of Kingsland, TX; Dorcas Vivens and husband Billy of Amarillo, TX; Carla Karr and husband Greg of Quanah, TX; Jennifer Andrews and husband Mike of Vici, OK; Jodessa Steelman and husband Denny of Amarillo, TX; Nephew Keith Nance and wife Darla of Enid, OK; and many other great nieces and nephews as well as great-greats. And many, many loving friends.
