Obituary for Donald Larned Sr.

Donald Eugene Larned, Sr., 84, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Childress. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at the Joe E. Jones Memorial Chapel at Childress Cemetery with Freddie Stice, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Donald was born May 20, 1933 in Childress to A.O. and Odessa Elizabeth (Haskew) Larned. He was a veteran, having served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. A hard worker, he later retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after 5 years. Donald was a jokester, and would rather play a prank on someone than to eat his next meal. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Juanita Larned, and grandparents Aaron Haskew and Mattie Pearl Haskew. Survivors include two sons, Donald Larned, Jr. and wife Kim of Amarillo and Michael Larned of Childress; a daughter, Lora Cowan and husband Chris of Childress; two sisters; one brother; seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
