Obituary for Don Drew

Chapel Service for Donald “Don” Drew, 74, of Childress, will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Childress Cemetery Chapel. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Drew passed from this life on March 9, 2024 in Childress.

Donald was born on April 5, 1949 in Wellington, Texas to Ed and Goldie (Teller) Drew. He married Ethel (McLemore) Drew on May 14, 1988 in Childress. Don served on the City Council in Estelline, drove semi trucks hauling cotton modules, served as a dispatcher for Circle H in Estelline, worked for General Motors and was a Diesel Mechanic. His willingness to be of service to others extended far beyond his family. He was known to help the churches, and was a good friend to the city, county, and highway patrol. Don was the strength of his family and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ethel Drew, his sisters; Gletta Mae Sanders of Ft. Worth, and Norma Jean Drew of Oklahoma City, OK., his brothers; Edward Drew of Estelline, and Phillip James “Uncle Phil” Drew of Childress, his children; Janet Hunter, Lisa Ann Drew, Donald Junior Drew, James Ray Drew, Ray Don Drew, Joe Dixon, Goldie Drew, Ronald Ray Drew, Isaiah Drew, his step-children; Mae Jean Rankins, Jessie Rankins, Joe Williams, Willie Drew, and Delores Drew, 32 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and God daughter Valetta Jones and children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Loretta Drew and Ella Drew, and two brothers; Charles Drew and Carl Drew.
