Obituary for Don Smothermon
Don Allen Smothermon, age 88, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019 in Childress, TX.
Services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, November 4, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church with Randy Wilson officiating and Terry Williams assisting.
Burial will immediately follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Don managed and ran Childress’ bus station for over 20 years. He managed West Texas Gin for over 13 years. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge #1113 for 60+ years. He also helped with Old Settlers for many years where he also served as president. He loved to watch rodeos on television and he also was a fan of the Texas Rangers.
He is survived by his wife, Lolita Smothermon of Childress, TX; son, David Smorthermon of Boston, MA; grandchild, Joshua Smothermon and wife Amy of Columbus, OH; grandchild, Winter Rush and husband Troy of Destin, FL; grandchild, Jordan Smothermon of Austin, TX; grandchild, Ashton Smothermon of Derry, NH; sister, Lajuana Mills of San Angelo, TX; niece, Robbie Cummins and husband Rick of Childress, TX; nephew, Terry Martin and wife, Rita of Vernon, TX; niece, Janice Timmons and husband James of Northfield, TX; nephew, Shane Martin and wife, Patti of Vernon, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, A.W. Smothermon Jr.; sister, Bennie Kidwell; sister, Laverne Martin.
