Obituary for Don Collyer
Graveside services for Don Collyer, 81, will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Childress Cemetery with Paul Harris officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Don Royce Collyer was born December 31, 1939 in Kirkland to Roy Clifford Collyer and Tressie Mae Royal. He loved family and was a loving father and grandfather. He was an amazing athlete and an all-state basketball player at Kirkland. He owned and operated his own oil field supply company in Midland. He loved the Childress area and always considered it his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis Collyer; two sons Donald “Cliff” Collyer and “Scotty” Craig Collyer and two sisters, Wanda Messick and Maxine Nye.
Survivors include a daughter, Le’Ann Collyer of Midland; a sister, Margaret Peter and husband, Martin, of Carrollton; six granddaughters and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
