Funeral services for Diana Ruth Depew, 78, will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Central Christian Church in Childress with Randy Wilson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Diana passed from this life and was greeted in heaven on October 30, 2022, while surrounded by her family. She was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on August 20, 1944, to Raymond “Jack” and Vola Montgomery. Her family moved to Ardmore while Diana was in elementary school, and she graduated from Ardmore High School in 1962. After high school, she attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. While attending college, she met her one and only, Walter Dean Depew. They were married on August 21, 1965, and she spent the next 29 years as a coach’s wife until Walt’s death on June 28, 1994.
Diana and Walt moved to Childress in 1974 where she enjoyed the rest of her life. Diana worked as a teacher’s aide for Childress Junior High and High School until she retired in 2001. She was a member of the Central Christian Church. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, loved playing card and board games, working in her yard, watching sports, and spending time with her family and friends.
Diana was affectionally known as ‘G’ by her grandchildren and great children. She was the best Mom and G that any family could want or look up to. Her faith in God was a driving force and all the family hopes to have faith like her in our lives.
Diana was preceded in death by her husband Walter Dean Depew, parents Jack and Vola Montgomery, brother Keith Montgomery and wife, Judy, brother-in-law Donald Depew and wife, Judy, brother-in-law James Depew, and grandson Michael Brister.
Diana was loved and is survived by her son, Carl Depew and wife Tonya, daughter Cathy Brister and husband, Kenneth; grandchildren Sarah Quisenberry and husband, Eric, Erica Tribolet and husband, Trenton, Harlie Statham and husband, Will, Brenden Depew, Kelsey Brister, Alexandra Ervin, and her great grandchildren, Jordan and Parker Quisenberry, Kagen and Kannon Tribolet, and Benjamin Statham and an aunt Ruby Woodruff and husband, Glenn. Diana leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and many beloved friends.
