Obituary for Debi Downing
Deborah Bush Downing passed away peacefully in her sleep and into the arms of Jesus Friday morning, January 13, 2023 at the age of 69.
She was born April 25, 1953 in Altus, Okla. to Donald and Lena Mae Bush. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
After nursing school, she drove and worked on ambulances in Houston. She later moved to Gainesville and worked in different departments at a bank there. After moving to Canyon Lake, Texas she started a business of cleaning homes that had been newly constructed.
Travis and Debi had a meter and hydro testing company that kept them traveling the state quite a bit. She was a Spurs fan fanatic as well as a NASCAR watcher. She was also the mother of a number of Doberman dogs she called her children. Debi was a much loved sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt and stepmother. To her great nieces she was known as “Aunt Guppy.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Bush and Lena Mae Scoggin Bush; her husband, Travis Downing whom she was married to for over 26 years. He was the love of her life and very best friend.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Caroline Davis and husband, Roger; brother-in-law, Billy Downing and wife, Brenda; stepdaughter, Wendy Richards; stepson, Sonny Downing; cousin Susan Bush Way; nephew, Terry Davis and wife, Renee. She is also survived by numerous nieces, cousins, two grandkids and great grandkids.
