Obituary for Dale O. Hightower

Funeral services for Dale O. Hightower, 82, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Estelline with Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Tell Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
He passed away June 6, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
Dale was born May 15, 1940 near Tell, Texas to L.O. and Vera Hightower. He grew up working on the family farm. As a young man working in the oil field in Borger, he met Marcella. They fell in love and married on January 1, 1958. They spent the next 18 years in Panhandle raising their boys as he worked as a Farm and Ranch Manager. They then returned to Childress to the family farm in 1978. Dale and Marcella spent 64 years working side by side farming and ranching. Dale loved to travel and made frequent trips to Colorado and Wyoming with Marcella. He loved spending time with his family and riding around on the Gator checking his cows.
Dale served on various boards through the years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Estelline where he served as a deacon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bud, Michie, Babe, Dan, Roy and Ricky and his sister, Douf.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella, of Tell; sons Billy Hightower and wife, Leigh Ann, and Mark Hightower and Donna Garrison all of Childress; grandchildren Leisa Elliott and husband, Stephen, Cory Hightower and wife, Jenica, Bradley Hightower, Katie Denney and husband, Matt, Sawyer Galyean and wife, Layne, Kyle Garrison and Haley Lemons and husband, Mark; great grandchildren Adyson Hightower, Capin Elliott, Doc Elliott, Cash Hightower, Brody Hightower, John Daniel Denney, Maci Denney, Wyatt Galyean, Truett Galyean, Jayleigh Garrison, Kyleigh Garrison, Blake Lemons, Luke Lemons; brother, Tommy Hightower and wife, Becky, and sister Jeanette Whitehead and husband, Aubrey along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
