Obituary for Chad Hicks
Chad Hicks, 57, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021, in Childress. He was born July 29, 1964, to Courtney Cavness Hicks and Delores Gay Byrd Hicks in Oklahoma City, OK.
At the age of 10, Chad accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at The Galilean Church in Bethany, OK. He worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, eventually retiring from there. He loved to hike and fish with his daughters. He also valued spending his days with his little dog, Miley. He enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, and was a hard worker. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed travel.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, E.O. “Shorty” and Evelyn Byrd, of Hollis, OK. Survivors include two daughters, Skylar Gray and husband, Matt, and Starla Wilson, and husband, Derek, all of Frederick, OK; his mother, Gay Hicks, of Childress; his father, Courtney Hicks, of Lone Wolf, OK; a sister, Caryl Mills, and husband, Bear, of Lubbock; grandchildren, Brystal, Kendrick, Caleb, Leighton, and Cooper, all of Frederick, OK; a niece, Sarah Johnson, and husband, Cody, and their children, Psalm, Cyrus, and Ezra, all of Waco.
