Colby Jade Compton, age 27, passed away on March 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Childress Church of Christ with Trey Morgan, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Colby was born on September 2, 1988 in Amarillo.  A very smart and talented young man, Colby was considered to be a quick-witted genius with a natural gift for writing. He had developed his own website for his music, and wanted to be famous for his music at a young age. Charming and caring, he touched the lives of all those he came in contact with, and his smile was infectious and could light up the room. He was a very talented musician and artist with a dark sense of humor. Colby was preceded in death by his grandparents, Homer and Diddy Compton, and Tommy Ricks, and his step-father Ronny Hamm. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Survivors include one son, Tyler James Whitten of Denton, TX; his mother, Ronda Hamm of Rowlett, TX; his father, Terry Compton and wife, Joyce of Claude, TX; one sister, Caley Galley and husband, Charlie of Amarillo, TX; one brother, Nick Compton and wife, Danielle of Amarillo, TX; two nephews, Toryn Allen and Landon Holbrook, both of Amarillo, TX; grandmother, Brenda Ricks of Childress, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
