Obituary for Clay Lacy

Clay D. Lacy, age 58, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Chad King, officiating, and assisted by Dru Lacy. Burial will follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 PM on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home.
Clay was born on August 9, 1960 in Wellington, Texas to Don and Shelba (Hamilton) Lacy.  He received his Bachelors degree from Angelo State University in 1983, and later obtained his license to certify him as a Journeyman Electrician.  He came home and helped run the family shoe store, both in Childress and in Quanah, from 1997 until 2013. 
Clay played golf and was an avid sports fan, and particularly loved the Aggies and the Cowboys.  He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, cheering them on at all of their events.  He loved Thanksgiving and Christmas, and always did something special for them during the holidays.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellington.
Clay was preceded in death by his father, Don Lacy, and by an uncle, Denzil Lacy.Survivors include his mother, Shelba Lacy of Childress; three sisters, Lana Martinez and husband, Tony of Tahoka, TX, Lori Gillem and husband, Danny of Childress, and Linda Lacy of Childress; seven nieces and nephews, Lynsi Ballinger, Joe Martinez and wife, Erika, Lacy Rodriguez and husband, Ignacio, Conor Cope and wife, Reina, Carli Cope, Calor Cope and Kara Palomo; eight great-nieces and nephews; his lifetime loyal friend and companion, his dog Toby; and several aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
