C. L. “Smitty” Smith, age 92, passed away on March 3, 2017 in Wellington, Texas. Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, March 6 2017 in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Little officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Smitty was born on November 4, 1924 in Childress, Texas to Clarence Edward Smith and Mary Bailey Smith. He served our country in the Navy on the Pacific Front during WWII. Smitty was a hardworking man who never called in sick. He instilled this value in his children and said, “Give your boss an honest day’s work”. He loved to go fishing and camping at the lake. Smitty is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Louise Ray. He is survived by: Daughter – Caroletta Smith of Ft.
