Obituary for Charles Sherman

Charles D. “Deedle” Sherman, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, December 12, 2016 in the Joe E. Jones Memorial Chapel at Childress Cemetery with Dennis Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Charles was born on March 20, 1941 in Decatur, Texas to Floyd and Diola Sherman. He worked for 41 years for the railroad as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Charles was a fun-loving man who loved to joke and kid, but who was serious about three things – NASCAR, going to the casino, and his Kabota. He loved outdoor life, and loved watching wildlife. Some of his greatest joy over the last several years was from living the country life with his wife, Barbara, enjoying nature from their porch. He even had a pet roadrunner, which would often join them in conversation there. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Mearl, Earl, Bud and Ed Sherman; and one son, Kenny Sherman. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of Childress; son Trent Sherman; son Tracy Sherman; son Tim Sherman; son Deke Sherman; daughter Debbie Reynolds; daughter Tammy Reynolds Hawkins; son Bobby Reynolds; sister Beafey Lewis; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to CRMC Hospice, PO Box 1030, Childress, TX 79201 or to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., Wichita Falls, TX 76310.
