Obituary for Cecil Truelock

Graveside services for Cecil Truelock, 87, will be held Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Paducah with Dr. Craig Darter officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.  He passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2020 in Childress. Cecil Roland Truelock was born January 11, 1933 in Wills Point, Texas to O.L. and Flossie Truelock. He spent his early years in Texas and New Mexico. In November 1951 he married Lonora Bailey and together they raised their four kids, Lea, Walt, Richard and David. They returned to Paducah, Texas in 1974 where he lived and farmed until her passing in 1984. He married Bennie Cates in 1985 in Childress where he farmed and worked for the county for many years. After Bennie's passing, he married Judy Earley in 2010. He worked for the Vest Ranch for many years. At the ranch he was treated like family, made lifelong friends and was given the freedom to play with all the big boy toys he could ever want to drive. Cecil enjoyed many hobbies. He loved to fish, camp, and was an amazing woodworker. He was a very creative person who could build just about anything. He was stubborn as a mule and had an ingenuously witty personality. He loved his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids with all he had. He took great pride in all of his family and their accomplishments. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lenora Bailey Truelock; wife Bennie Cates Truelock; a son, David L. Royall; a brother, James Noland Truelock; a brother, William Joe Truelock; a sister, Oree Cook and a sister, Letty Jean Mayberry. Survivors include his wife, Judy Truelock of Childress; a daughter, Lea Galyean and husband, Wally, of Paducah; a son Walter Royall and wife, Jayne, of Celina, Texas; a son Richard Royall of Reno, Texas; a son, Roy Don Earley and wife, Debbie, of Childress; a daughter, Tina Crouch and husband, Shon, of Childress, a son John Cates and wife, Kathy, of Amarillo; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
