Obituary for Carolyn Thompson
Funeral Services for Carolyn Ruth Thompson, 77, will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church with Terry Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Mrs.Thompson passed from this life on March 14, 2024 in Memphis.
Carolyn Ruth Thompson was born on March 8, 1947 in Paris, Tx. To Rubin Frances Sessum and Virginia Pearl Sisson. She married Gary Ray Thompson on June 5, 1965 in Floydada. She was a Registered Nurse and worked many years in the community, finally retiring from Childress Healthcare Center. Carolyn was a very hard working, strong woman. She helped her husband with their greyhounds for 20 years. She enjoyed riding around, painting, laughing and of course, making several trips to Sonic. She loved her kids, her grandkids, friends and her animals. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Childress.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary, her parents, and one brother.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; Bud Thompson and wife Kandi of Childress, and Mac Thompson of Childress, granddaughters; Taitlyn Thompson, Ashley Thompson Smith, and Daphni Thompson, grandson; Brandon Thompson, and two sisters; Sandra Hardin of Sherman, Tx., and Kathryn Murphy of Wichita Falls, Tx.
