Carlos Jerry Austin, age 84 of Childress and formerly of Plainview, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10 AM in the Joe E. Jones Memorial Chapel in Childress Cemetery with Kerry Wood officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Austin was born on February 9, 1932 in Littlefield, Texas to Met and Ida (Queen) Austin. He married Naomi Isaacs in 1953. Mr. Austin served his country in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University and later from the FBI Academy. He served as a Police Officer in Plainview for 33 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parent and a daughter, Mary Austin Mew. Survivors include his wife, Naomi of Childress; son Jimmy Austin of Amarillo; daughter Linda Austin of Wellington; four grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous extended family and friends.
