Obituary for Bobby Sherwood

Bobby Lee Sherwood, age 67 of Childress, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Trinity Worship Center with Ronnie Shoffner, Pastor, Officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be gathered at the home of Jeff and DeAnna Cagle on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 7 PM to receive friends and family. Bobby was born on March 7, 1949 in McLean, TX to Robert Lee and Pearl Elizabeth (Underwood) Sherwood. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He married Joanne Hutcheson on September 25, 1971 in Wellington. He loved cars and motorcycles, and collected Hot Wheels and model cars from the time he was a child. Bobby was an outgoing man who loved visiting with people and never met a stranger. He loved to help people in whatever way he could, and was nominated two years in a row for the Channel 7 Who Cares award for community service. He also loved his dogs, especially Chico and Mia who loved to go with him wherever he went. Above all else, Bobby loved his family and took joy in their accomplishments. He was a loving brother, husband, father and Pappaw. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Joanne of Childress; one son, Timothy Lee Sherwood of Navasoto, TX; one granddaughter, Daisey Sherwood of Childress; brother, Bill Sherwood of Childress; sister, Lavonna Aguirre and husband, Joe of Childress; brother, Joel Sherwood and wife, Pam of Wellington; sister, DeAnna Cagle and husband, Jeff of Childress; brother, James David Sherwood and wife, Lindy of Childress; aunt, Shirley Maxwell and husband, Wayne of Pittsburg, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101.
