Obituary for Billy Mullin

Billy Joe Mullin, age 84 of Turkey, passed away on July 21, 2016 in Childress. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Church of Christ in Turkey with Stuart Smith, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at the church at 9 AM and continue until service time on Monday. Billy was born on June 17, 1932 in Tampico, Texas to Ira Dee Mullin Sr. and Barnie Bell (Caylor) Mullin. He loved to tinker and was always moving and going and keeping his hands working on something. A “Jack of all trades”, he enjoyed helping others fix things, and loved to buy cars that needed fixing up and then selling them after he worked on them. He loved music and played in a band called the “Soundrifters.” Billy was a Christian man and a member of the Church of Christ in Turkey. Above all else, his family was his life and he loved them dearly. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jimmie, and by four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include two sons, Mike Mullin and wife, Patricia of El Paso, and Ray Mullin of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Melinda McCollum and husband, Wayne of Justin, TX; one sister, Bobbie Christian Williams of Heartland, TX; 7 granddaughters; 6 grandsons; 14 great-granddaughters; 11 great-grandsons; 2 great-great-grandsons; 3 great-great-granddaughters; and numerous extended family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ in Turkey.
