William "Bill" Jackson Blackburn, age 70, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in Memphis. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 26, 2013 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Chad King officiating . Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Bill was born October 23, 1942 in Seymour, Texas to Arthur and Gladys Coleman Blackburn. He served the United States in the Marine Corp. Being an involved citizen of Childress, Bill served as state officer in the JayCee's, was past president of Childress Chamber of Commerce, and The Rotary Club .Being on the museum board, he was interested in history so was instrumental in bringing the PowWow to Childress. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcople Church, He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Clemi Higley Blackburn , and brother, Gary Blackburn.
