Bennie J. Kidwell, age 85, died Tuesday, September 04, 2012 in Childress. Services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 06, 2012 in First Baptist Church with Rev. Chad King officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 05, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Bennie was born in Childress, TX. to A. W. & Mable (Keith) Smothermon on September 15, 1926. Bennie and Truman married in August of 1961. She belonged to the Naomi Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church. She sang in the choir for 18 years and served on the Charity Committee.She retired from J. C. Penney after 38 years. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Memorials may be made to The First Baptist Church of Childress or Odessy Hospice of Amarillo, Tx. Bennie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Truman, and one brother, A.W.
