Obituary for Barbara Ray
Barbara Ray, age 85, passed away on January 20, 2024 in Childress, Texas.
Services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, January 26, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Childress with Kerry Wood officiating and he will be assisted by Norman Jones.
Family visitation will be from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Barbara was born on July 1, 1938 to J.C. Norman and Rhuia (Neeley) Norman in Quail, Texas.
Barbara graduated in Quail, Texas with the Class of 1956. It was in Quail where she met her husband, W.L. Ray. She and W.L. married on January 9, 1957 and remained married for 63 years until his passing. Barbara and W.L. loved to square dance and were members of the Childress area bowling league in their earlier years. They both loved to travel, but visiting Branson on Veteran’s Day always held a special place in their hearts. Barbara was a master seamstress who always kept an immaculate home. She was a natural caretaker who would do anything and everything for her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, W.L. Ray.

Daughter - Karen Nelson and husband, Turk of Childress, TX
Granddaughter - Jessica Husband of San Antonio, TX
Granddaughter - Jennifer Husband of Dallas, TX
Grandson - Jacob Ray and wife Alison of College Station, TX
Grandson - Caleb Ray and wife, Angela of Huntsville, TX
Brother - Glen Norman and wife, Linda of Glen Rose, TX
Sister - Patsy Barnett of Quanah, TX
Numerous Cousins, Nephews and Nieces.
