Annie Ruth “Boots” Grimes, age 89, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Childress with Randy Wilson officiating. Burial will immediately follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Family visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, April, 29, 2016. Annie Ruth Robinson was born the daughter of George and Eppie (King) Robinson on January 21, 1927 in Childress county Texas. She graduated from Carey High School, and attended West Texas State University. She passed away at her home in Childress on April 28, 2016. She married Russell Grimes on July 31, 1948 in Childress and they initially lived near Carey where they farmed. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings and three of their spouses, her husband, and their daughter, Jerry Ann Studebaker. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in law, George and Linda Grimes of Allen, Texas and Allan and Cindy Grimes of Mountain View, California; grandson Greg Grimes, his wife Janet and their children Kaitlyn and William of Allen, Tx; grandson Tim Grimes of Allen, Tx; sister and brother-in-law, Mattie and Kenneth Owens of Childress, TX.; son-in-law Bill Studebaker of Porter, OK; granddaughter Susan Studebaker Rush of Porter, OK; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Ruth was a retired newspaper owner, and bookkeeper. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and visiting with her family and friends. She was active with the Tuesday morning sewing and quilting group at the First Baptist Church, where she was a member.
